Golf is a marvelous personal growth tool. It is a metaphor for life.
Golf is so much more than a game. By playing golf one learns that it is a powerful metaphor for life. Golf helps one to develop the required skills of focus and concentration that are required for living a good life. If every golfer applied the essential characteristics of golf to his or her life, they would realize what a powerful life lesson golf is. They’d be more than a good golfer, they would be good at creating the life of their dreams.
‘To find a man’s true character, play golf with him.’ – P. G. Wodehouse
One does not have to be a golfer to win the game of life. But learning to apply golfing principles provides excellent tools to enjoy and succeed in the game of life. I am not a golfer. I did learn however, the common principles of the game that apply to life. Probably because my life was always ‘in the rough’. If I did not get ‘into the swing’ of life I would not have survived the game. (Sorry for the corny
‘Golf without bunkers and hazards would be tame and monotonous. So would life.‘ – B. C. Forbes
Understand The Basics of Golf and the Game of Life
‘Golf really is the best microcosm of life – or at least the way life should be. ‘ – Lou Holtz
In golf and in life, you are dealing with the whole being. Mind, body and spirit. Most people know by now that everything is
Golf and Life Principles
‘Golf is a game, and games are meant to be enjoyed.’ – Raymond Floyd
Most people know by now that everything is energy, vibrating at different frequencies. That means YOU are energy, the golf clubs, golf balls, tees not matter how solid it seems. its all vibrating energy. The clothes you wear, your shoes, the ground beneath your feet, the sun shining down on you and the breeze blowing through the trees. All of it, energy. Even the thoughts you think and the words you say, energy. Its all energy from a single Source that’s vibrating at different frequencies or speeds. Golf balls and clubs vibrate at slower, lower speeds than the sun, wind and your thoughts. Your body is also energy. It is rather clever field of energy because it is able to sense and interpret incredible amounts of energy input all at once and help us to make adjustments accordingly.
a) To play the game of golf and life is a whole lot easier if you understand the primary tool, the physical body. The human body is a marvelous, intelligent, cooperative energy field that’s sensitive to our every condition. It’s equipped with an electrical energy system that continuously, automatically adjusts to feed back. We can play golf and the game of life, while our body breathes, digests, heals wounds, indicates pain, hunger and other body needs. Even while concentrating the body will send us signals to indicate when it is thirsty, hungry, tired, use the bathroom or is in pain. This goes on behind the scenes, mostly without our conscious recognition
‘Golf is a matter of confidence. If you think you cannot do it, there is no chance you will.’ – Henry Cotton
b) Apart from the body and appropriate golf clubs, balls, golf course etc. the real driving force in the
game of golf and life is the mind. The mind is a powerful, non-physical, energy channel that works through the brain within the body. Although the body is used to hold the club and take the shot, it is doing so with instructions from the mind. The conscious mind can selects thoughts, choose goals and give the body directions. The subconscious is the store house for memories, programming and patterns. So the conscious mind chooses to play golf, the club to use etc. The subconscious takes care of all repetitive patterns like walking, driving, and the behind the scenes functions.
‘I’ve always loved the mentality of Tiger Woods on a golf course. I love his eyes when he’s setting himself and focusing on his decision; he has a really strong, focused face and believes that he can make the shot.’ – Rafael NadalThe
c)Emotions are the third aspect of the game of life. They are high speed frequencies that motivate us. For example, excitement, enjoyment, pleasure might be the motivating feelings that take us from the idea of playing golf to taking the necessary steps to play the game.
‘Do your best, one shot at a time and then move on. Remember that golf is just a game.’ – Nancy Lopez
Quick And Easy How To…
First, everything begins in the mind. You, through your mind, may make a decision that your life is better when you play golf. You might choose who to play with and when. The whole game of golf comes about because of the idea and desires withing the mind that you want to play golf. Whether the game is social or competitive, it all starts with your thinking and your mind. So it is with life.
Next the imagination with emotions come into play. Following mental choices, you imagine enjoying the experience of playong golf. In both golf and life your imagination triggers emotions which set the wheels of motion into action. Emotions are feelings, such as delicious anticipation and perhaps excitement about having a great game of golf or life experience. Perhaps the concentration on your game, or playing with good friends and maybe winning a prize helps relieve stress and gives your mind a rest. Allowing you to return to life refreshed and clear headed.
Finally, actions. Taking the physical steps to implement the chosen plan through to the time that you tee up.
Applying Golf Tactics To The Game Of Life
‘No other game combines the wonder of nature with the discipline of sport in such carefully planned ways. A great golf course both frees and challenges a golfer’s mind.’ – Tom Watson
Life, like Golf, demands conscious, clear focus. Focus on what’s wanted, imagine it, feel it, then do it. See the successful outcome first in your mind, vividly imagine experiencing it, feeling it physically and emotionally, then follow through with inspired, action one stroke at a time in golf and live one moment at a time in life.
The Following Applies In Both The Game Of Golf And The Game of Life
2} Imagination and Emotion: See it and feel the positive outcome.
3} Action: Take inspired action to bring about the desired results.
‘Success in golf depends less on strength of body than upon strength of mind and character.’ – Arnold Palmer
